Elon Musk has confirmed NBCUniversal executive Linda Yaccarino has been appointed as the CEO of Twitter - and hinted the platform will be rebranded as 'X, the everything app'.
Musk made the announcement on Friday morning with a tweet which said: 'Looking forward to working with Linda to transform this platform into X, the everything app.'
He said Yaccarino 'will focus primarily on business operations, while I focus on product design & new technology'.
Yaccarino had resigned as NBC's head of advertising earlier in the day - following growing speculation she'd be chosen for the Twitter role.
